  • Cliche, but true...
    Easy to take credit even when we don't deserve it;
Even easier to blame others when something goes wrong.
I don't necessarily think it's that people don't want the truth.
I think it's more a matter of what we're ready and able to accept about ourselves at any given time.
Whether it's intentional or not, I think that misconstruing the facts sometimes serves some greater internal purpose.
If something good happens, we're glad to find a way to link it to a positive self-attribute.
If something bad happens, we'll often try to separate ourselves from it, and explain it away.
In either event, both serve the function of keeping us "perfect," and preserving our self-esteem.
    a) Meet the self-esteem junkie. lol.

On the other hand, there is always that guy who seems to unfairly take everything as if it's his fault.
He believes he is fundamentally "imperfect'" and finds it really hard to enjoy his successes.
He rarely attributes his successes to personal qualities, even when he deserves to.

Here, the illogical presents in a different way --
While no one can be perfect all of the time, nor can he be imperfect all of the time. lol.
    b) Meet the low self-esteem junkie.

In either scenario, there is a struggle with balancing a subjective reality.
It's of fear of being less than successful, or a fear of ever allowing yourself to feel successful.

We all fall into this loop from time-to-time, but how awesome is the fellow who is honestly okay with both...
    c) -- no excuses, for better or for worse. :o)

Which are you more like: a, b or c?

  • In an ideal world, every couple would be happy and healthy, and every marriage would be a loving, lasting one.

Every family system would be strong and in the pink, and the children would grow up feeling safe and valued under every circumstance...

Thank goodness for animals of other species who are able to make this ideal seem possible.  :o)

  • I don't know, my style has always been to be more the, "coffee shop kinda girl."
You're still out, you've still got some background music and good company (hopefully)... lol.
It's relaxed but not too boring... and you're still buying some form of drink... :oP
To each, his own, but when I feel like being out, someplace cozy other than home,
a cute coffee nook with someone special usually does the trick for me. :o)
Where do you go to unwind, if you're not in the mood for the bar or club scene?

About Me

  • It's the quotable! About 95% of the Jpegs here I put together myself at some point... i just can't take credit for any of the photos, though. These are like my mantras and things I feel represent me in a nutshell... some are lighter, some heavier but all are somewhat relevant.:) I find a lot of the quotes, quirks and thoughts to be useful in my practice (and anytime over coffee, lol). The other percentage is just pure nonsense, but gotta love it. Ha! Hope you enjoy the eye treats, everyone! :o) God bless!
